Recently, Tyrrells were asked to inspect THE BLOCK — four units in Manly, which have been the subject of a ‘reality’ TV series on Channel 9.
They found that the overall quality of the work was high, but there were a number of issues needing fixing or completion.
“I thought the standard was really good. The architect’s design for the facade was excellent and no expense was spared for the materials and components used throughout”, said Jerry Tyrrell, principal of Tyrrells Property Inspections.
”Fortunately, most owners are reasonable about the inspection detail in Tyrrells’ reports. Most of problems were very minor and could easily be dealt with either by the experienced head contractor or contestants, or left for future maintenance.”
“We like to help owners and contractors work together to get the work finished properly. Certainly, we found Channel 9 and the head contractor to be very sensible about the advice contained in our Report”, said Mr Tyrrell.
Some allegations of shoddy building for the minor cracking and other inevitable faults were raised by the media.
“This is unhelpful nonsense” said Mr Tyrrell. “Building is an imperfect science and so many of the obvious faults rarely affect the use or value of the property and can be fixed up without major drama.”
Tyrrells also invited the contractor and the various consultants to provide Certification to verify the quality of work they could not inspect.
In the end THE BLOCK got the thumbs up from Tyrrells. Congratulations to all involved.
