What does the Owner-Builder Course and Certificate involve?
To obtain an Owner-Builder Permit from the Office of Fair Trading you must give the OFT evidence that you have completed an approved owner-builder course. Tyrrells provides a self-paced Owner-Builder Course and Certification which is accredited by the Office of Fair Trading.
First you should read the Tyrrells' Owner Builder Handbook. The Handbook is approved by the Office of Fair Trading, is FREE for a digital copy and is essential reading for all owner-builders. Please contact us for a copy.
Then, call us and we will email you a set of questions about owner-builder responsibilities.
If you are successful in answering the questions, we email you a Certificate which you submit to the OFT in exchange for the Owner-Builder Permit. Note that you cannot apply to Council to be an owner-builder without a Permit.
How much does it cost?
The Tyrrells Owner-Builder Course and Certification is only $85. There is a handling charge if you want a hard copy of the Owner- Builder Handbook, Course Questions or Certificate.
